Why not take a nature break in your back yard? There needs to be more available information on building a habitat in your yard. I can help with this to a certain extent. You can plant trees, but are…Continue

I have to say reptiles. They are not warm and cudley, but they are tough and fascinate me.

Favorite Music:
Anything but country. I do like old time country. Paris One
Best Outdoor Experience:
I was road cruzing for snakes to take pictures one night and a barred owl flew in my car window and landed on the dashboard. I know they have sharp nails I bailed out so fast the door flew back and split my head.

Posted on September 30, 2009 at 12:41am 0 Comments

I sent this in an email to the cop who shot the Boa constrictor.

Sunday, August 05, 2007

Austin Haley, 5, was killed by a stray bullet fired by a police officer attempting to shoot a snake.

NOBLE, Okla. — A stray bullet fired by a police officer trying to shoot a snake hit and killed a 5-year-old boy fishing at a nearby pond, officials said.

Austin Haley was fishing with his grandfather, Jack Tracy, Friday evening when Tracy said he heard a shot and saw a… Continue

Trooper shoots aggressive python in Ottawa County By John W. Stephenson August 18, 2008,

The snake was actualy an adult Boa constrictor and was 7 foot. Probably being fed large rats not rabbits, dogs, or children. The story makes it to be a monster and it was just a scared loose pet that go outside.

Here is a real bad news story that I took action against.

Posted on September 30, 2009 at 12:29am 0 Comments

I contacted the reporter, Jungle John, and the police in this story. After the story you can read the emails. The emails contained ID photos as well as the photo of the snake in the story I hope they show up. For all purposed the snake is a black ratsnake.

Hi, Marten.

Thanks for the advice re Ardesia; I already have some on the west wall, and it's doing fine. Had no trouble at all in the recent cold snap. But yes, on the north, it might not have as much luck. Walter's viburnum is lovely and I've always wanted some; thanks for the suggestion! I don't know why I didn't think of it, but I'm glad you did! I would definitely need to get a dwarf variety, though. (That's also why I didn't just go with Elderberry, which I also love; is there a dwarf Sambuca out there?)

I'll hit the phones to the native nurseries this afternoon looking for Viburnum! (I went to Google and found this from Floridata.com: "'Mrs. Schiller's Delight' is a dwarf selection especially suited to formal hedging.")
